CCIS

About CCIS

CCIS is an academy for K–G6 learners where curiosity is cultivated into meaningful growth and lasting purpose. Grounded in John Dewey’s philosophy of Learning by Doing, we believe that children learn most deeply when they are actively engaged—asking thoughtful questions, exploring ideas, creating with intention, communicating with clarity, and reflecting on what they discover. Our approach begins with a careful understanding of each learner’s individual strengths, emerging areas for growth, and personal interests. Through purposeful assessment, attentive guidance, and a rich range of academic and experiential learning opportunities, students are encouraged to discover what inspires them, develop greater self-awareness, and build a meaningful direction for their own growth. By connecting English and core academic learning with inquiry, hands-on projects, discussion, and reflection, CCIS develops strong literacy, critical thinking, confidence, and the ability to apply learning beyond the classroom. We also nurture the character, empathy, responsibility, and cultural understanding that enable students to engage thoughtfully with people and perspectives different from their own. Ultimately, CCIS supports each learner in becoming a capable, principled, and compassionate global citizen—prepared to contribute with confidence and purpose in an interconnected world.

Academics

Academic Goals

At CCIS, academic growth is part of whole-child development. Cornerstone builds strong foundations and confidence, Keystone develops critical thinking and communication, and Capstone fosters independence, purpose, and responsible global citizenship. Our goal is to nurture capable, compassionate learners who are prepared to grow and contribute with integrity.

Educational Approach

At CCIS, learning becomes meaningful when students can apply it to the world around them. Alongside structured academic instruction, students create their own math problems, use Numerical Reasoning Journals to connect mathematical thinking with everyday situations, and explore early financial literacy through practical learning experiences. Through inquiry, hands-on projects, discussion, and reflection, they build real-world skills, confidence, and habits of independent thinking.

Curriculum

1

Expansive Campus

CCIS is part of a shared learning environment shaped by a common commitment to children’s education, cultural discovery, and healthy development. Across the campus and its wider community setting, CCIS works alongside a range of collaborative partners to create meaningful opportunities for children to learn, explore, connect, and grow. By bringing together thoughtful academic learning, new cultural experiences, and supportive community engagement, this environment helps each child develop curiosity, confidence, well-being, and a strong sense of purpose.

2

Authentic U.S. Curriculum / Fairmont Private School

Through our partnership with Fairmont Private Schools in California, CCIS has developed a U.S.-aligned curriculum grounded in American educational standards and course materials. This academic foundation helps students build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to engage with learning in an increasingly interconnected world.

3

Winter Schooling & Short-Term Study in U.S.

Alongside our annual vacation programs, CCIS offers opportunities for short-term study in the United States through close collaboration with Fairmont Private Schools. In a safe and well-supported environment, students can deepen their language skills, experience a new culture, and broaden their global perspective.

4

Individualized Roadmap

Through comprehensive diagnostic assessments and individualized consultations, we carefully identify each student’s learning profile, dispositions, and strengths. By developing a deeper understanding of each child’s potential, we design a personalized roadmap for future pathways and provide clear direction for meaningful growth.

5

Academic Acceleration Program

Students who demonstrate strong learning readiness and a solid foundation may participate in advanced learning opportunities that introduce higher-level academic content. Designed around each learner’s abilities and readiness, the Academic Acceleration Program offers a structured pathway for deeper challenge, greater confidence, and continued academic growth.

6

Balanced & Diverse Course Offerings

CCIS provides a strong foundation in English and core academic learning, while Korean reading, analytical writing, and Korean history are taught as part of the CCIS program. To broaden students’ experiences beyond the core curriculum, CCIS connects learners with affiliated partner programs where they may explore physical education, music, visual arts, hands-on science experiments, and technology-based experiences such as computer programming, robotics, and AI. Through this connection, students can extend what they learn at CCIS into a wider range of creative, physical, scientific, and technological experiences.

7

ESY & STEAM Integrated Learning

Through the Edible Schoolyard (ESY) Project, students engage in nature-based, hands-on learning experiences that connect knowledge with everyday life. Integrated STEAM activities further encourage creativity, curiosity, and practical problem-solving as students explore, design, create, and reflect.

8

Self Awareness & Development

Self-Awareness & Development is designed to help students better understand themselves through a wide range of meaningful experiences and guided exploration. By engaging with different cultures, ideas, creative activities, and real-world contexts, students gain opportunities to recognize their individual strengths, interests, learning preferences, and areas for growth. The program encourages students to reflect on what inspires them, how they respond to challenges, and the kinds of contributions they may wish to make. Through this process of exploration and reflection, students develop the self-knowledge, confidence, and judgment needed to make thoughtful choices about their learning, personal growth, and future pathways.
